York Middle School Families,
Here is what our school is working on this month from our CharacterStrong curriculum. In October we spent time discussing bullying, being an advocate, and discussing what respect looks and sounds like. During the Character Strong lessons that occur on Tuesdays during Family time, staff and students are finding time to connect, engage in kindness, and lead with empathy and curiosity.
The following is an overview of what our Families will be learning about this month:
- Understanding Emotions
- Expanding Emotion Vocabulary
- Introducing Values
- Values in Action
- Character Dares: Initiate a conversation with an adult to learn something new about them; Choose an adult who has been extra helpful or kind and send them a thank you note
Just a reminder that our school’s designated CharacterStrong time happens on Tuesdays during Family. Your continued support from home makes all the difference as we encourage students to practice the skills they are learning both in and outside of the classroom. Try asking your students about 1 thing they learned or 1 new idea they heard this week during their CharacterStrong lesson.
As always, if you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or watch the CS
video to learn more.
With deep kindness,
Jennifer Badura
